Independent leadership for a resilient Future
The choices Chelan PUD makes over the next few years will shape our economy, environment, and daily lives for decades. I will focus on preserving local control, championing practical resource stewardship, and maintaining the strict financial discipline over public assets that our community expects.
By combining my scientific foundation in natural resources with over 20 years of legal expertise in water rights and regulatory compliance, I am ready to deliver independent, balanced leadership to the Chelan PUD Commission.
Advocate for Water Rights & Resource Stewardship
Water, energy, and our landscapes are the lifeblood of our agricultural heritage and our future economy. Strategic planning for our resources in North Central Washington requires a careful balance that protects both our vital working lands and our unique natural environment.
Defend Local Water Rights: Water is essential for our orchards, outdoor recreation, and future growth. I will leverage my career in agriculture and water law to protect our region’s water access against external pressures.
Apply Science-Based Solutions: Bringing a specialized degree in natural resources ecology, I will champion the PUD’s environmental stewardship commitments, safeguarding our rivers and fisheries without compromising our essential power generation capacity.
Collaborate on Watershed Planning: I will use my proven track record of consensus-building to support durable partnerships among local stakeholders to secure long-term watershed health.
Uphold Local Control & Fiscal Discipline
Chelan PUD belongs to the people who live here. To keep it that way, we must stand firm against external overreach and ensure our decision-making remains centered on local priorities, led by independent, accessible leaders.
Guard Public Ownership: Our public utility must always be driven by sound resource management and the needs of Chelan County — keeping our resource benefits focused on local owners.
Provide Financial Oversight: Policy should be guided by data and community-first problem solving. I will leverage my executive business management experience to support rigorous budget oversight, thorough cost-benefit analysis, and fiscally responsible management of ratepayer funds.
Champion an Open-Door Commission: Effective public service starts with professionalism and accessibility. I will work collaboratively to ensure each area within our County — from our town centers to rural valleys — has a meaningful seat at the table through a transparent decision-making process.
Sustain Affordable, Renewable Hydropower
Our low-cost public power is the bedrock of Chelan County’s economy. As regional growth and new technologies place fresh demands on our grid, we must look ahead collaboratively to secure our energy independence and protect local ratepayers.
Secure Our Energy Future: The upcoming federal relicensing of the Rock Island project is an incredibly important negotiation. I will use my 20+ years of regulatory experience to work toward long-term power rights that favor local owners and secure our energy supply.
Prioritize Local Ratepayers: As large-scale development and tech demands expand, I will advocate for intentional grid modernization that continues to protect utility rates for local families and small businesses.
Expand Broadband Fiber: Building on my direct legal experience supporting broadband expansion, I will continue to advocate for robust, accessible digital infrastructure that connects our rural neighborhoods and drives economic opportunity.
